On August 8th, 2017, Christian County voters will decide whether to approve a renewal of the library’s 20 cent levy. If passed, the increased revenue would fund additional branches. Go back to the election information page for more information on other branches, or read on to learn more about the proposed East County Branch.
The proposed branch serving eastern Christian County would be located in the city of Sparta. The land on which the library would sit is already owned by the Christian County Library district, and was purchased prior to the library’s failed 2009 attempt at a tax levy increase with money that had been reserved for this purpose. This would be a full service library branch, open approximately 40 hours per week. This building is estimated to cost $1.1 – $1.5 million.
